Whatcom County is a haven for outdoor recreation. Here are just some of the upcoming events:
Aug. 29, Muds to Suds: Navigate a challenging but fun 5k-course that includes sudsy experiences and eight mud pits at Hovander Homestead Park, Ferndale. Details: mudstosuds.com.
Sept. 5, Lake Padden Relay: Participate in the four-person times 2.6-mile event, or the individual 10.3-mile run, on grass and trails at Lake Padden. Details: gbrc.net.
Sept. 5, North County Road Run: Enjoy a 5k, 10k or 25k run in beautiful north Whatcom County, with day-of-race registration in Lynden. Details: northcountyroadrun.com.
Sept. 12, Samish Row and Paddle: The 5.5-mile Lake Samish course for rowers and paddlers starts and ends at Lutherwood Camp. Details: salmonrowandpaddle.com.
Sept. 19, Bellingham Traverse: Individuals and teams run, bike and paddle through Bellingham’s parks, trails and waterways, with the finish line at Boundary Bay Brewery. Details: recreationnorthwest.org.
