A 35-year-old man was injured in a fall near Olympic National Park in Washington, rescuers said.

The incident happened Jan. 6 in Hoh Valley area, the U.S. Coast Guard said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“The man fell down a hill and suffered several injuries,” rescuers said.

Multiple agencies responded to the fall but couldn’t help the man because he needed to be hoisted from the area, rescuers said.

An air crew from Port Angeles was contacted and hoisted the injured man from the area.

The Coast Guard landed on a logging road, and he was transferred to a Life Flight Network helicopter and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

In 2023, more than 2.9 million people visited the Olympic National Park, according to the National Park Service.
