The Whatcom Museum is giving local LEGO builders a chance to show off their skills. The museum will host a LEGO building contest on Friday, April 5. Registration is currently open, and participants have until March 22 to fill out an online form to enter the competition.

On March 25 and 26, they’ll have the chance to drop off an original design that fits the competition’s theme of “community building.”

Submissions will be on display between March 27 and April 7 at the museum’s Old City Hall Building at 121 Prospect Street. The competition is split into three age categories: ages 5 to 10 and families, 11 to 17 and 18-plus.

Mike Tarrant and Brad Bergman, a local couple who competed on the fourth season of Fox’s “Lego Masters,” will judge the submissions and determine the winners.

The competition is part of the museum’s “Free First Friday” program. The program began in January of 2024, offering guests free admission on the first Friday of each month, as opposed to the normal $10 price for general admission.
