Detroit Lions' Terrion Arnold Seen in Anti-Suicide Smock After Arrest

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold wore an anti-suicide smock while appearing in court following his arrest for kidnapping and robbery.

Arnold, 23, stood before a judge in Hillsborough County, Florida, on Thursday, June 25, after being taken into custody the previous day. The NFL star faces four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery, which carry a potential sentence of life in prison.

In addition to wearing the smock, Arnold's wrists and ankles were both shackled.

During the brief hearing, Arnold was denied bond. He will remain in custody until at least Monday, June 29, when there will be a hearing on the state's motion for pretrial detention.

Arnold was arrested in connection with an alleged kidnapping and robbery incident that happened in February. He has been accused of "coordinating and directing" the scheme, which saw three men pistol-whipped, held at gunpoint and robbed over an alleged theft.

In a statement released by his representatives on Thursday, Arnold "categorically" denied the charges brought against him.

"There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations," the statement read. "Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences."

Police previously arrested six men in connection with the kidnapping and robbery.

The statement concluded, "Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the judicial process will lead to his ultimate vindication."

The Lions addressed Arnold's arrest on Thursday, saying the franchise was "aware" of the athlete's "legal situation."

"We will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process," the team said.

The Lions selected Arnold with the 24th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Arnold signed a four-year, $14.34 million contract that June, including a fully guaranteed $7.25 million signing bonus.

Arnold currently has two years and $4.8 million left in guarantees on his contract, but his guarantees would be voided if suspended by the NFL, which is likely given the nature of the allegations.

The alleged kidnapping and robbery plot was in retaliation for property Arnold claimed was stolen from an AirBnb that he rented.

"Arnold and his friends decided to take matters into their own hands," Judge J. Logan Murphy wrote in a February court order. "Rather than allowing law enforcement to investigate and retrieve the stolen property, the co-defendants sought vigilante justice by kidnapping the victims for over an hour, interrogating them, beating them, and threatening them with a gun barrel in the mouth."
