The Temple Bar offers Negroni Week cocktails

The Temple Bar is partnering with Really Awesome Drinks for a Negroni Afternoon at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, at 306 W. Champion St.

Sarah Holodnick and Hayley Boothe of Really Awesome Drinks will serve cocktails supporting Negroni Week, an event launched in 2013 by Imbibe Magazine and Campari that raises money for charitable causes around the world while celebrating cocktails. The Americano, the Negroni and the Boulevardier will be offered.

Tickets are $10 for samples, a cocktail demo and a $1 donation to Skookum Kids and Skookum House. Skookum House is a volunteer-staffed facility that cares for children entering or transitioning in the foster care system throughout Whatcom County.

Aslan to host fundraiser for local farmers market

Aslan Brewery is hosting a fundraiser for Twin Sisters Farmers Market from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, at 1330 N. Forest St.

Ten percent of drink sales will help the Maple Falls-based market increase access to locally grown and affordable food in the foothills region of Whatcom County. The fundraiser will also feature live music by Hambone Wilson and guests.

Twin Sisters keeps prices lower than traditional farmers markets and brings quality, local produce to food desert communities such as East Whatcom County.

Jalapenos tequila of the month

Jalapenos Family Mexican Restaurant’s $5 Teguila of the Month is the Magave Tequila Reposado.

Aged in fine white oak barrels, Magave Reposado retains its classic agave flavor while projecting hints of vanilla, caramel and spice. It won the gold medal in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2011.
