Fairhaven restaurant damaged in 2023 fire sets reopening date
A historic Fairhaven restaurant that temporarily closed after the fatal Harris Avenue fire in 2023 has announced a reopening date.
Dirty Dan Harris Steakhouse first teased its reopening back in July, and soon after announced applications for a staff positions would open in August.
The restaurant is now owned by previous employee Steve Marandola, according to Cascadia Daily News.
A reopening is planned for Jan. 3, according to a comment on a Facebook post on the restaurant’s profile.
“Everything is starting to come together. Some photos from before we started the reconstruction and some from where we are now. We can’t wait to have you home, for dinner,” the post states.
The post and opening date comment was met with over 20 comments from followers excited about the reopening.
“So happy for you. Can’t wait to come in for dinner,” one user wrote.
“Oohhhh I know where I’m having my birthday dinner at in February,” another user commented.
The renovations also include changes to the restaurant’s “Churchill Room,” which will now be called the “Phantom Room” and used for private dining or speciality dining for customers with sensory or respiratory issues.
Dirty Dan Harris Steakhouse is open from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at 1211 11th St. in Bellingham.
The Herald reached out to the restaurant’s staff for additional information but did not receive a response.
