A new specialty cocktail bar has opened in Whatcom County, bringing unique martinis, classic cocktails and “boozie brunch” to Bellingham.

MJ’s Martini Bar held a soft opening Friday, Sept. 18, according to the bar’s Facebook page.

“First night in the Books! We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who attended and made last night an unforgettable experience. We feel fortunate and blessed to have such great customers already. The feedback we received was wonderful to hear,” a Sept. 20 Facebook post stated.

The new bar serves a variety of craft cocktails, including intriguing martini flavors such as pineapple upside down cake, lavender lemon, key lime pie, prickly pear, grapefruit, espresso, lemon drop and a “007 Shaken Not Stirred.”

“Our hand-crafted cocktails and curated martinis honor timeless tradition while embracing a modern, sophisticated flair. Inspired by the art of mixology, we’ve created a space where flavor, elegance, and atmosphere come together to celebrate the vibrant spirit of Bellingham,” the bar’s website states.

Aside from its martini list, the menu also includes classic cocktails like an old fashioned, moscow mule, maitai and more, as well as steak bites, salmon dip, chef’s pie, salads and arugula proschuttio.

On Sundays guests can enjoy “Boozie Brunch” featuring a variety of flights, mimosas, brioche French toast, omelets and chicken and waffles.

But the bar also has more specials throughout the week. Tuesdays will have trivia or open mics with $4.50 tall beers and White Claws, as “Wine Wednesday” offers 6-ounce pours for $5.50 all day. On “Throwback Thursday,” Old Fashions and beer flights will be $10, and throughout the weekend there will be live music from 6 to 9 p.m.

The bar will also offer happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

MJ’s Martini Bar is open from 3 to 9 p.m. daily at 416 W Bakerview Rd., the previous location of Fireside Martini and Wine Bar.
