These businesses are participating in this year’s Drink and Dine for Peace
A group of Bellingham businesses is donating a portion of proceeds this month as part of the eighth annual Drink and Dine for Peace fundraiser, organized by the Whatcom Peace & Justice Center (WPJC).
Throughout September participating businesses will donate a portion of sales to support WPJC’s mission of “building a more peaceful, just and equitable community.” In addition, WPJC is organizing International Day of Peace events for Sunday, Sept. 21. Visit www.whatcompjc.org/idp2025.html for more information and to register to attend Sunday’s event or volunteer.
“In a time when so many of us feel overwhelmed by division and uncertainty, Drink and Dine for Peace is a reminder that we keep each other safe by showing up for one another,” WPJC Executive Director Aline Prata said in a news release. “Change begins here at home — when local businesses and nonprofits come together to build stronger, more caring communities. We’re grateful to our partners for proving that peace can be rooted in everyday acts, like sharing a meal.”
The theme of this year’s event is: “We Keep Us Safe: Fostering a Culture of Care.”
The theme “highlights the truth that safety grows not from fear or force but from strong relationships, mutual care, and collective action. It’s a reminder that meaningful change begins right here at home. Think global, act local,” according to the news release.
