Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro, one of Bellingham’s most popular breweries and restaurants, is closing at the end of this month but isn’t going out without a few parties.

The brewery’s final day will be Tuesday, Sept. 30, according to a recent emailed newsletter from the brewery.

“In a blink of an eye we find ourselves in our final month,” the email states. “The outpouring of love, stories and special visits has our hearts bursting with appreciation for our community. We know that this final month is going to be filled with more smiles, tights hugs and bittersweet goodbyes as we find ourselves doing something we’ve never done before, close down.”

Here are some events the brewery will be hosting during its final weeks:

  • Sept. 20: 30th Anniversary Block Party with live music, food, games, beer, and “a special presentation with the city of Bellingham, The Bellingham Regional Chamber of Commence, The Downtown Bellingham Partnership and the Bellingham Beer Alliance to kick off the celebrations.” The party is free for all ages and will run from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Sept. 25: Happy Hour BBQ with free live music at 5 p.m.
  • Sept. 26th: Final Fryday Fish Fry with live music, food and beer from 4 to 9 p.m.
  • Sept. 30th:The final beer will be poured from the taps.

Don’t worry. Even after the final beers are poured, you can still get some of your favorite Boundary Bay brews. After the brewery first announced the permanent closure back in November 2024, it later announced that some of its popular beer recipes will be passed to Black Raven Brewery in Woodinville, Washington, to continue brewing.

“As announced in November, 2024 Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro will be closing its doors at the end of September after 30 years in business,” states an August news release from Boundary Bay. “Since this announcement, Boundary Bay has been approached by other breweries about the possibility of using their unique recipes to contract brew the iconic beer and keep the Boundary Bay brand available to customers.”

“After carefully exploring the options, Boundary Bay has decided to move forward with Black Raven Brewery in Woodinville, Washington to brew three of its most popular flagships and select seasonals. Citing their years-long, trusted friendship with Black Raven’s owner, Beaux Bowman and Black Raven’s state of the art brewing facility in Woodinville, Boundary Bay owners say this is an exciting and perfect fit,” the release said.

Boundary Bay Brewery is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 1107 Railroad Ave. in downtown Bellingham.
