Saturday is last day to visit Bellingham bakery before it closes up shop
A downtown Bellingham bakery recently announced it will close permanently this week, while its sister business, a popular downtown coffee shop, will remain open.
Avellino Gluten Free Bakery, known for its gluten-free pies, pastries, breads, cream puffs, cookies and more, will have its last day of operation Saturday, June 14, according to a June 6 social media post.
“It’s with a heavy heart we are announcing the closure of Avellino Gluten Free Bakery,” a Facebook post states. “This will take effect and be our last day of operation, Saturday June 14th. If you or anyone you know is interested in purchasing a fully functioning gluten-free bakery please reach out.”
The sudden closure apparently sparked rumors that its sister business, Avellino Coffee House at 1329 Railroad Ave. in downtown Bellingham, would also be closing.
Avellino Coffee House addressed the rumors on June 8, stating the business has no plans to close.
“Please note this closure does NOT affect Avellino Coffeehouse, and we have no plans to stop serving the community any time soon,” a Facebook post states.
“We love the community and as seasons come and go, so do businesses. While we will miss Avellino Gluten Free, we are looking forward to what lies ahead,” the post states.
Avellino Gluten Free Bakery is open regularly from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at 2500 Cornwall Ave.
