‘Very good and hearty!’ The best chili in Whatcom County, perfect for this chilly weather

We asked readers where to find the best chili in Whatcom County, and the votes are in.

The poll had six local restaurant options in Whatcom County, including Greene’s Corner, Horseshoe Cafe, Old Town Cafe, Slo Pitch Sports Grill, Boundary Bay Brewing Co. and Nicki’s Bella Marina.

The unscientific poll received 46 votes.

The best chili in Whatcom County

Boundary Bay Brewing Company received 15 votes, or 33% of the total, to top the list of the best chili in Whatcom County.

The brewery and bistro serves a variety of beer, pub fare, seafood such as smoked salmon chowder, mac & cheese, gumbo, burgers, BBQ pork sandwiches and creme brulee.

The homemade Boundary Bay Chili is made with kidney beans, corn, tomatoes, poblano and anaheim peppers and onions.

The restaurant is also popular online, receiving a 4.3-star rating from 1,064 Google reviews and a 3.9-star rating from 1,047 ratings on Yelp.

Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and is at 1107 Railroad Ave. in Bellingham.

In second place was Greene’s Corner with nine votes, followed by Nicki’s Bella Marina with eight votes and Old Town Cafe with seven votes.
