We asked readers where to find the best fish tacos in Whatcom County, and the votes are in.
The poll had 16 local restaurant options in Whatcom County, including Keenan’s at the Pier, Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro, Nicki’s Bella Marina and The Black Cat.

The best fish tacos in Whatcom County
Black Sheep received 22 votes, 19% of the total, to top the list of the best fish tacos in Whatcom County.
Black Sheep, known by its slogan “a bar with tacos” is a 21 and over bar that serves enchiladas, tacos, breakfast burritos, cocktails, wine, beer and agave spirits with a wide variety of tequilas and mezcals.
The menu features eight taco choices: rockfish, fried chicken, carne asada, chorizo, pork belly, carnitas, roasted cauliflower and butternut squash.
The bar was started by the owners of Goat Mountain Pizza in 2016, and since then has received a 4.5-star review from 377 Yelp reviews.
Black Sheep is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday and is at 211 W Holly St. in Bellingham.
In second place was Keenan’s at the Pier with 18 votes.
Keenan’s at the Pier is located inside The Chrysalis Inn & Spa and serves “fresh local Northwest cuisine” and has a full bar, according to its website. The restaurant’s lunch menu features blackened fish tacos and are only served from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Keenan’s at the Pier has also received high praise online, with a 4.2-star rating from 392 Yelp reviews.
Keenan’s at the Pier is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and is at 804 10th St. in Bellingham.
In third place was The Black Cat with 13 votes, and The Loft Restaurant in fourth place with 10 votes.
