This is the best poutine in Whatcom County, according to our reader poll
We asked readers which Whatcom County restaurant made the best poutine, and the votes are in.
The poll had five local restaurant options in Whatcom County including Schweinhaus Biergarten, Fiamma Burger, Aslan Brewing Co., Rock and Rye Oyster House and an “Other” option. The unscientific poll received a total of 49 votes.
Aslan Brewing Co. was the most popular restaurant with 13 votes.
Aslan Brewing Co. is mostly known for its beer, but its menu features tasty dishes such as bison burgers, makhani curry bowls, salads and appetizers.
Aslan Brewing Co. has been greatly supported by the Whatcom community as it strives to also help the community, according to Georgi Shillington, Aslan Brewing Co.’s marketing director.
“Aslan Brewing is heavily involved in the community of Bellingham, giving back through monthly donation partners, fundraising events, creating spaces to gather, and supporting fellow local small businesses. Aslan Brewing is well loved by the community of Bellingham and it wouldn’t be where it’s at today without that support; therefore, giving back to the community is a large part of Aslan’s mission,” Shillington wrote in an email to The Bellingham Herald.
The local restaurant is also popular online, as it has a 4-star rating from 774 reviews on Yelp.
Aslan Brewing Co. has two Bellingham locations, the Depot and Brewpub, as well as a Seattle location. The poutine is only available at the Depot location, according to Shillington.
Aslan Brewing Co. Brewpub location is open from noon to 11 p.m. daily and is located at 1330 N. Forest St. The Depot is open from 3-11 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and Sunday. The Depot is located at 1322 N. State St.
Following Aslan Brewing Co. with eight votes was Fiamma Burger.
Fiamma Burger has beef burgers as well as chicken, black bean, salmon and lamb options. For those craving poutine, their dish is stacked with beef gravy, cheese curds and herbs.
Fiamma Burger has received a 4-star rating from 399 Yelp reviews, and is praised for its burgers and milkshakes.
Fiamma Burger is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and is located at 1309 Railroad Ave. in Bellingham.
Schweinhaus Biergarten received five votes in the poll, followed by Rock and Rye Oyster House with four votes.
