We asked readers which Whatcom County restaurant made the best affordable burger, and the votes are in.
The poll had 10 options of local favorites in Whatcom County including Grant’s Burgers, The Filling Station, Fiamma Burger and Zane Burger. The unscientific poll received a total of 326 votes.
Winning with 83 votes was Boomer’s Drive-In.
Boomer’s Drive-In has burgers starting at only $3.75. Its menu features burgers such as a Cajun inferno burger, a guacamole bacon burger and the classic Boomer Burger with a quarter-pound beef patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and Boomer’s special sauce.
Boomer’s Drive-In also serves chicken and fish burgers, as well as corn dogs, salads, fish and chips, sweet potato fries, deep-fried mushrooms and milkshakes.
The local restaurant is also popular online, as it has a 3.5-star rating from 461 reviews on Yelp, and is praised for its burgers and atmosphere.
Boomer’s Drive-In is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and is located in Bellingham at 310 N. Samish Way.
In second place was Underground Burger with 59 votes.
Underground Burger has burgers starting at $6.49 as well as waffle fries and milkshakes.
Underground Burger offers online ordering and delivery or pick up. The restaurant does not have any reviews on Yelp, but has received a 4.9 star rating from 29 reviews on Google.
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and is located inside Jake’s Barbecue in Lynden at 8114 Guide Meridian Road.
The Filling Station came in third place with 43 votes. Fiamma Burger followed closely with 41 votes and Grant’s Burgers with 30 votes.
