Magic shows celebrate library reading programs

Ferndale entertainer Dan the Magic Man performs free at two local libraries this week, as part of activities to promote summer reading programs for children.

“He is a hoot,” said Tina Bixby, children’s librarian at Lynden Library. “He really engages the children. He was dyslexic as a child; he talks about that and the magic of the library card.”

He also does card tricks and illusions, in addition to spreading the word about books.

Performances are 3:45-4:45 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at North Fork Library, and 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at Lynden Library.

Details: Tina Bixby, 360-305-3600.
