Out With Kids: REI class offers info on backpacking cuisine

For families planning a backpacking trip, REI is offering a free “Camp Cooking Basics for Backpackers” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at the REI store in Sehome Village shopping center.

The class will offer information about equipment, including stoves, cook sets and fuel; planning and preparation; and backpacking tricks that every trail cook should know.

Group size is limited, but a few spots remained available earlier this week. To register, call the store at 360-647-8955 or go online to rei.com/stores/bellingham.html.
