Free entry to state parks Jan. 17-18
Admission to Washington state parks is free Sunday, Jan. 17, and Monday, Jan. 18, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
A Discover Pass will not be required for day-use parking at state parks such as Larrabee, Birch Bay and Peace Arch parks in Whatcom County, and at Rockport, Rasar, Bay View and Deception Pass parks in Skagit County.
Free days apply only to day use and not to overnight stays, rented facilities, Sno-Parks, or lands managed by the state departments of Natural Resources and Fish & Wildlife.
Additional free days in 2016 are March 26, April 22, May 8, June 4, June 11, Aug. 25, Sept. 24, and Nov. 11.
