Whatcom Museum’s Syre Education Center will be open noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays from Thursday, Jan. 7, to Friday, Feb. 5, while the museum’s Lightcatcher galleries are between major exhibitions.

Admission of $5 allows entry to all three Whatcom Museum buildings: the Lightcatcher, Old City Hall and the Syre.

The Syre Center, in a former Bellingham Fire Department station at 201 Prospect St., features natural history displays that represent pioneer life, logging and Native Americans — plus an impressive collection of taxidermied birds. The building is normally open only to school groups and for special events.
