Learn the basics of computer coding during a free event at the Spark Museum of Electrical Invention this weekend.

Hour of Code offers both online and “unplugged” activities for children of all ages — and their parents — during the free open house from 10 a.m. to noon. Saturday, Dec. 12, at Spark, 1312 Bay St.

Spark will be providing some computers, but participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or portable device that supports a modern web browser. Headphones also are encouraged. Free wi-fi and coffee will be provided by Woods Coffee.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult; the event does not include museum admission. Participants who finish an hour of coding will receive a free Spark pass.

For more information, go online to sparkmuseum.org or call 360-738-3886.
