Ice skaters perform holiday show Dec. 12-13 at Sportsplex
Karlyn Hungate, director of this year’s Bellingham Figure Skating Club winter show, “The North Pole Express,” describes the performance as “a variety of traditional and contemporary holiday pieces, woven within the magical excitement of children surrounding the Christmas season; celebrating what this time of year is all about; family, friends, laughter and excitement.”
The show starts 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12-13, at Bellingham Sportsplex.
Our local skaters, coaches and choreographers have been hard at work since September to bring this show together.

show directorThe performers are skaters from Bellingham Figure Skating Club, Western Washington University Figure Skating Club, and Bellingham Sportsplex Learn to Skate Academy, and range in age from 3-year-olds to seasoned teen- and college-age competitive skaters. Bellingham Figure Skating Club is a nonprofit organization based at Sportsplex.
“Our local skaters, coaches and choreographers have been hard at work since September to bring this show together,” Hungate says. “Each of the individual skaters have come such a long way in the past year; this is a wonderful opportunity for them to showcase their talent.”
“It is an incredible amount of fun to watch the choreography and creativity behind each of the group programs develop.”
Hungate says the goal of hosting such events is to attract an audience and excite them about the sport of ice skating.
“This show gives our community the opportunity to support an all-inclusive local nonprofit recreational club and be part of the excitement as we welcome the holiday season,” she says. “The ‘North Pole Express’ is geared to be a fun experience for the whole family.”
