Mare Wakefield and Nomad perform at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Green Frog, 1015 N. State St., in support of their latest record, “Poet on the Moon.”

The husband-wife duo, Mare (pronounced “Mary”) Wakefield and Nomad were chosen as finalists this year at Kerrville’s NewFolk Songwriting Competition in Texas and as Emerging Artists at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in New York.

The Americana-singing couple combines Wakefield’s strength as an award-winning songwriter with Turkish-born Nomad’s piano skills and exotic musicality. Calling Nashville home while touring the U.S., they perform songs from any of their five studio records, including the single “One More Breaking Heart,” which has received over 30,000 spins in retail stores nationally.

Tickets are $7.
