Festival: Sh’Bang offers circus acts, music, soapbox derby

Sh’Bang, an eclectic, family-friendly festival now in its eighth year, opens at noon Friday, Sept. 11, at the Lookout Arts Quarry, 246 Old Highway 99 N., near Alger, and continues through Sunday, Sept. 13.

The festival features more than 28 bands and 45 performances, and includes an off-road soapbox derby race, all- star Circus Sh’Bang show, a ritzy sauna, shadow-art performances, a giant puppet parade with the Chaotic Noise Marching Corp, exploding aerial piñata action, the Inflammable Circus, a sunrise floating dock dance party, Vietnamese aqautic puppetry, swimming, camping, dancing, kid-focused performances and activities, mermaids, pirates, cowboys, and all sorts of unexpected surprises.

Entertainers include Hot Damn Scandal, Inflammable Circus, Be Calm Honcho, Leapin’ Louie, Emergency Circus, and The Sky Colony.
