Music: Bellingham Music Club starts 100th year of concerts
Bellingham Music Club begins its 2015-2016 Centennial Season with pianist Susan Tang, who will perform at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 Texas St., and in the club’s “Night Beat” series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at First Congregational Church, 2401 Cornwall Ave.
Tang won student awards in 1997 and 1998 from the club while attending Sehome High School, and went on to study at the Eastman and Manhattan schools of music. She is now assistant professor of piano at Northeast Illinois University. She will perform works by Chopin, Ives and Albeniz.
Wednesday’s concert is free, but donations are appreciated to support student scholarships.
Admission for Thursday’s concert is $15, available in advance at Village Books, Piper Music and bellinghammusicclub.org, and at the door. A “Six for $60” season pass is also available online and at the concert.
