Jansen Art Center, 321 Front St., in Lynden, celebrates its third anniversary with a neighborhood block party with music, dancing, food, and beverages on the center’s back lawn, deck, and surrounding alley from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29.
The party will also be a meet-and-greet for businesses that are moving into the Waples Mercantile Building this fall, including The Inn at Lynden, Village Books, Paper Dreams, Avenue Bread, Drizzle Olive Oil and Vinegar Tasting Room, and Overflow Taps.
The newly renovated Dutch Village Inn, which reopens this fall, and longtime businesses such as Lynden Dutch Bakery and JoFish, will will also be part of the festivities.
The event features regional wines and local beers, thanks to donations from Dickerson Distributors and Kulshan Brewing Co. Lynden Liquors will serve the beer and numerous caterers and restaurants have donated food.

Whatcom County bands Silver City, the Kuva Rhythm Project, and the Jansen Jazz Band Combo will entertain partygoers throughout the evening. All ages are welcome.
Tickets are $25 and include food and drinks. Tickets can be purchased in Jansen’s gallery gift shop and at Brown Paper Tickets. Proceeds from tickets sales benefit the center and its art classes, exhibits, and events for children, teens and adults. Details: 360-354-3600, jansenartcenter.org.
