5Point Film returns to Bellingham for its third year with an “Adventure-Disco Block Party” on Sunday, Aug. 30, in the 1300 block of Bay Street, which will transform into an outdoor-adventure block party and film festival.
The event begins at 5 p.m. with a variety of attractions included in the $10 admission (free for those 12 and younger), including street-yoga sessions presented by Kombucha Town and lead by 3 Oms Yoga instructor Melissa Longfellow, with a live DJ; a tandem ski course run by Backcountry Essentials; Bellinghamster-ball races; a photo booth with retro costumes available and a prizes for “best disco attire;” sumo-wrestling by Vital Climbing Gym; and Aslan organic beer and food trucks.
The outdoor screening of 12 short adventure films from the 5Point Film Festival will be projected onto Pickford Film Center’s 24-foot inflatable movie screen at dusk. People are asked to bring their own lawn chairs for seating under the stars.
The event will be silly and lighthearted, so people are encouraged to dress in retro or disco attire. Advance tickets are at Brown Paper Tickets, Aslan Brewing Co., Vital Climbing Gym, and Backcountry Essentials. Tickets also will be available at the event. Details: 5pointfilm.org.
