Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department sponsors its first Children’s Art Festival, free from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Maritime Heritage Park.

The festival features some 25 booths that offer crafts, projects and activities — from fish prints to face painting, recycled art, noodle necklaces and juggling lessons.

Several family- and education-oriented businesses and organizations will be on hand with information, and there will be food for sale and roaming performers, including stilt walkers.
