Families: Telescopes offered for free sky viewing

Whatcom Association of Celestial Observers offers a free Telescopes in the Park event at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at the north end of Boulevard Park.

Members of the group will have telescopes to observe anything in the sky — including the sun, moon and stars. They will be there until just before the park closes at 10 p.m.

The event is weather-permitting — there’s nothing to see in the event of rain or thick clouds — but current forecasts call for clear skies. More details: whatcomastronomy.org.
