A floating concert? Check out this unique series coming to Bellingham’s shore
Bellingham residents seem to love the city’s beautiful shoreline, outdoor activities and live music. Now there’s and event combining these three Bellingham specialties.
“Beats on the Bay,” a floating concert series created by the Community Boating Center and Schooner Zodiac, is a concert event featuring live music you can float up to.
The live bands will perform on the Schooner Zodiac, but concert attendees are invited to bring their own canoes, kayaks and paddleboards to float around the boat and listen to the free concert.
The lineup includes:
- Aug. 13: Kate Dinsmore
- Sept. 3: MaSango + Ukama
- Sept. 10: Smooth Kiwi
For a closer-up experience, tickets are also available for a spot on the Schooner Zodiac boat for $75 per person.
Kayaks, paddleboards and rowboats will also be available to rent from the Community Boating Center for $30 and can be reserved online in advance.
“Can’t get on the water?” a news release from Community Boating Center states. “No problem! You can still enjoy the music from shore. We welcome shoreside attendees with a suggested donation of $15 per person to support the CBC’s community programming.”
Events may be cancelled due to weather conditions.
The concerts run from 6 to 8 p.m. each night at Boulevard Park, 470 Bayview Dr. in Bellingham.
