The Heritage Flight Museum hosts its fifth annual Props & Ponies Mustang Show and Fly Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Skagit Regional Airport, 15053 Crosswind Drive, Burlington.
Props & Ponies is centered around the car that changed the way people drive and the aircraft that changed the course of a war: the Ford Mustang and the North American P-51 Mustang.
The event kicks off 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, with Props, Ponies & Popping Corks. The 21-and-older event features music by Birdsview Bluegrass, food, and a preview of the cars and aircraft that will be on display the following day. Beer and wine from Flyers Brewery will be available for purchase. Tickets for Friday’s event are $10 at the door or in advance at 2015propsponiespoppingcorks.eventbrite.com.
Saturday’s event features flying and static displays of museum and visiting vintage aircraft, up to 100 Ford Mustangs, aviation-theme kids activities from the Children’s Museum of Skagit County and Burlington Home Depot, vintage military vehicles and World War WII-era tractors provided by Farmer’s Equipment Co, docent-led tours of other museum artifacts, displays, and a lot of flying.
