Don’t miss Skagit County’s ‘celebration of music and Bigfoot enthusiasm’ this weekend
About a 30-minute drive from Bellingham, you’ll find a mysteriously fun festival celebrating one of the Pacific Northwest’s most popular mythical creatures, Bigfoot.
The 3rd Annual Skagit BigFoot Fest runs from Friday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Sept. 29 and features live music, over 100 local vendors and artists, food trucks, kids activities and a wine and beer garden.
“This three-day celebration of music, community, and Bigfoot enthusiasm will feature over 20 live performances on two stages, including headliners like The Olson Brothers, The Chris Eger Band, and Joel Gibson Jr.,” a news release states.
The Bigfoot-themed event will incorporate the famous Sasquatch lore into its many activities and decor.
In addition to live music, food and vendors, the festival will include:
▪ The BigFoot 5K Fun Run on Saturday, Sept. 28. The family-friendly 5K race includes themed t-shirts and day passes to the festival for participants who register in advance.
▪ Bigfoot-themed mini golf and scavenger hunt.
▪ A BigFoot research panel with guest speakers.
▪ A VIP Lounge with a tequila bar and exclusive access to indoor and outdoor experiences.
▪ Art classes for all ages and experience levels.
▪ A rock wall.
▪ Axe throwing.
“We’re thrilled to be heading into our third year after the incredible growth we saw last year, with attendance jumping from 500 to over 3,000,” Marla Chapa, the festival’s founder, wrote in the news release.
“Our goal is to keep putting our community on the map while showcasing the amazing talents of the Pacific Northwest. This year, we’ve made exciting improvements and can’t wait to provide an even better experience for everyone involved,” Chapa said.
Festival tickets range from $17 to $300 and vary by ticket level and admission dates. Passes to participate in the 5k cost $30 per person.
The festival runs from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Skagit County Fairgrounds at 501 Taylor St.
