Event: Tour the trees at Broadway Park Aug. 4
Whatcom Parks and Recreation Foundation hosts a free tour of Broadway Park, followed by a reception at the Roeder Home, on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
People are requested to sign-up ahead of time through the foundation’s website, wprfoundation.org. Check-in for the tour starts at 6 p.m. at the Roeder Home, 2600 Sunset Drive, at Broadway.
The tour will be led by John Wesselink, the longtime volunteer with Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department who created a tree map of Broadway Park. More than 40 species of trees are in the park, and Wesselink will highlight some of the more unusual specimens during the one-hour tour.
After the tour, people can return to the Roeder Home for a reception from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The home will be open for self-guided tours, and people can bring a picnic dinner to enjoy on the grounds before or after the tour.
Details: 360-389-3803.
