Seattle’s Ayron Jones & the Way is the headliner for the outdoor Downtown Sounds concert on Wednesday, July 22 in the 1300 block on Bay Street. The family-friendly Wednesday concert series, now in its 11th year, takes place near SPARK Museum of Electrical Invention and Bayou on Bay, and is sponsored this year by a Levitt AMP Your City Grant.
Opening band is the Scott Pemberton Trio from Portland, Ore., playing jazz, rock, grunge, blues roots, and funk.
Jones’ hybrid style of guitar playing, in which the chord and solo are played at the same time, infuses punk and hip-hop and has been describe as “Stevie Ray Vaughan meets Nirvana.”
His three-piece blues rock band, Ayron Jones and The Way, which he started in 2010, has opened for B.B. King, Living Colour, Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Presidents of The United States of America, and Train.
