Bellingham’s George Dyson, boat builder, adventurer, and science historian, will speak at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 12, at Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship, 1207 Ellsworth St.
Dyson calls his presentation “Two Years Before the Mast.”
“Nowhere are the works of man placed as completely in the hands of God as on a long voyage by sea,” he says. “My youthful explorations of the Northwest Coast in hand-built boats followed a path going back thousands of years.”
A 1978 book by Kenneth Brower, “The Starship & the Canoe,” details the relationship of George Dyson and his father, world-renowned astrophysicist Freeman Dyson.
