Mount Baker Theatre’s Summer Repertory series feature three plays, staged in rotation July 14 through Aug. 9, in Walton Theatre, 104 N. Commercial St.
▪ “The Last Romance” by Joe Dipietro: Widower Ralph takes a different path on his daily walk and finds an unexpected second chance at love. The golden-years romance explores the transformative power of love with tenderness and gentle humor.
▪ “Jake’s Women” by Neil Simon: Jake, a novelist, faces a marital crisis. Through real and imagined conversations with the ladies in his life, Jake finds wildly comic and sometimes moving flashbacks playing in his mind, occasionally interrupted by visitations from actual females. The women propel him down a witty and wise path of self-reflection.
▪ “Other Desert Cities” by Jon Robin Baitz: Writer Brooke Wyeth returns home after a six-year absence to celebrate Christmas with her parents, brother and aunt. The reunion is thrown into chaos when Brooke announces she’s about to publish a memoir dredging up an explosive and tragic event in the family’s history. Politics collide, tempers flare, and secrets come to light in the dramatic comedy.
