Theater: WWU’s masked comedy show fun for all ages
Western Washington University department of theater and dance presents “commedia in the Park,” directed by WWU theater faculty member Rich Brown, at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, July 2-4, at Maritime Heritage Park, 500 W. Holly St.
It marks the fifth year of July 4th weekend commedia performances in the park.
Presented by WWU theater students enrolled in Brown’s summer course “Advanced Acting Topics,” “commedia” is a highly physical, masked comedy performance originating from the Italian Renaissance. The show features well-known stock characters, such as the tricky servants, young lovers, and foolish old men and women.
