Music: Elizabeth Park concerts start June 25
The Offshoots, which grew from Bellingham singer-songwriter (and married) duo Beth and Paul Schramer’s Northwest roots performing as The Ducks and Redux, kick off this summer’s Elizabeth Park Summer Concert series from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at the park at Washington and Walnut streets.
In 2010, drummer Phil Carter and bassist Mark Schramer (Paul’s brother) joined the band to give depth, intelligence and danceability to the group’s classically rocking songs. On Thursday, they will play old favorites and new tunes from their recording, “String Theory.”
The series is hosted by the Eldridge Society for History and Preservation and by Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department. There will be food vendors at the park, and picnics are welcome. There’s no fee, but donations supports the neighborhood’s community events.
The schedule for the rest of the summer:
July 2: D’vas & Dudes (country, rock, folk, and bluegrass)
July 9: Joy Ride (rock and dance)
July 16: Kuungana (African dance)
July 23: Rattletrap Ruckus (waltzes and ragtime)
July 30: bandZandt (dance)
Aug. 8: Nuages (gypsy jazz and swing)
Aug. 13: Bellingham Dixieland All Stars (swing and Dixieland)
Aug. 20: Happy Valley Sluggers (Cajun and zydeco)
Aug. 27: The Atlantics (rock, soul, rhythm and blues).
Details: 360-739-3660.
