Do-it-yourselfers can explore innovative, eco-friendly homes during Sustainable Connections’ annual Imagine This! Home & Landscape Tour, showcasing environmentally minded residences and yards from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 27-28.
Visitors can see homes that utilize the latest innovations in green design, reclaimed materials, net-zero energy, rainwater harvesting, passive solar construction, rain gardens, permaculture. and low-maintenance landscapes.
Tickets are $10 for people 16 and older; supervised children are welcome. Tickets are available at Village Books, both locations of Community Food Co-op, and in-person the day of the event. Each site will have tickets available for purchase via cash or check only.
New this year, on Saturday only, a free Sustainable Living Festival at 210 E. Laurel St., near South Bay Trail, will feature businesses offering products and services for energy improvements, water-reuse and efficiency, urban farming, native landscaping, green builders, and more. Buy a plant from Plantas Nativa on Saturday and they will donate 15 percent to Sustainable Connections. There will be a beer garden, too.
