Tickets go on sale Wednesday, Aug. 26, for a drive-thru zoo at the fairgrounds in Lynden.

Operated by Pacific Animal Productions out of Fallbrook, California, the event will run over two weekends, Sept. 11-13 and Sept. 18-20.

The Wildlife of the World, as it’s known, will allow people to slowly drive through the fairgrounds, 1775 Front St., while listening to a narration through their vehicle’s radio.

The drive is expected to take about 30 to 45 minutes, according to a news release from the Northwest Washington Fair.

Fair CEO Chris Pickering said the event is fun, educational and affordable for families.

“It’s also the rare event that can be safely offered during the COVID-19 pandemic because everyone stays in their vehicles,” Pickering said in the release.

Featured animals will include a spider monkey, sloth, emu and wallaby. Pickering said the event will feature at least five animals, as well as exhibits of parrots and birds of prey. Live demonstrations also will occur.

The event will run 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the two weekends.

Tickets will be sold in two-hour blocks for $10 per vehicle, with a limit of one person per seat belt. Buy them at nwwafair.com. There also will be limited standby admission each day for $15 per vehicle.
