Pet parade June 20 at Maritime Heritage Park

Calling all four-legged, two-legged, furry, feathered, finned or other fine pets and their owners — Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a “Scales and Tails Pet Parade” Saturday, June 20, at Maritime Heritage Park, at Holly Street at Central Avenue.

Check-in and registration starts at 10 a.m.; the parade starts at 11, followed by judging and an awards ceremony. The event is free, but donations of pet food for area humane societies are appreciated. Local organizations will be on hand to answer people’s pet questions.

There will be prizes for everyone, and grand prizes for the best-dressed pet, best float or wagon, and most unusual pet. All ages (of people) are welcome. Pets must be leashed or contained at all times.

Space is limited to the first 100 participants, so advance registration is suggested. Details: 360-778-000, or cob.org (go to EZ Reg at top right, then register for activities, community events).
