New mud run series designed to let participants run with dogs

Mud runs are best done with a good friend, but what if your best friend is your dog?

A Seattle woman has found a solution with a new mud run series that starts May 2 in Carnation.

Mary Meyer, longtime organizer of Western Washington races, is launching the Muddy Mutt, a run or walk over and around obstacles on a muddy course. It’s a non-timed event with 12 waves starting between 10 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.

The first race is at Camp Korey at Carnation Farm, the organization that will benefit from the race. Camp Korey is a program for children with life-altering medical conditions. Proceeds will also go to dog-related charities, Meyer said.

For more information, visit muddymuttevent.com. Registration is $45 per human and the first dog. Extra dogs are $5. Immediate family members can join in for $20 each.

The second Muddy Mutt is scheduled for Sept. 12. The location has yet to be announced.
