1 Tacoma bike club meeting

The Tacoma Wheelmen’s Bicycle Club will hold its regular meeting, including a program by Carol and Roz Davis on cycling in Sardinia and Italy; social time and wine tasting ($5 for wine, $3 for beer) at 6 p.m., pasta dinner at 6:30 p.m. and program at 7 p.m. Tuesday; Wildside Wine, 608 S. 2 Celestial happenings

The March equinox will occur at 3:45 p.m. Friday. That is when the sun will shine directly on the equator and there will be nearly equal amounts of day and night throughout the world. It marks the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to see the total solar eclipse, unless you plan to be in the North Atlantic Ocean. Totality will occur about 2:45 a.m. PDT.


3 Percival Creek project

Help the Olympia-Thurston County Stream Team remove invasive weeds from the banks of Percival Creek; tools, gloves and light refreshments will be provided; volunteers under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult; 10 a.m.-noon Saturday; meet at 2352 Sapp Road SW, Tumwater; free; register at streamteam.info/getinvolved/calendar.
