That is the estimated percentage of nonnative northern pike that have been removed from Box Canyon Reservoir on the Pend Orielle River in northeast Washington. This will be the fourth year that crews from the Kalispel Tribe of Indians’ Natural Resources Department will use gill nets to remove the fish, and work with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife to monitor the results. From 2012-14, more than 16,000 fish (38,000 pounds) have been removed by netting.
