Gear item for Jan. 7

Lumbar hunting pack

THE SITUATION: Hunters are always looking to make it easier to carry their gear through the forests and across the fields.

A SOLUTION: Signature Products Group later this year will introduce the Browning Billy 1700RT lumbar hunting pack. The lightweight pack has 1,700 cubic inches of storage space and makes use of innovations such as Hypo-Sonic and Mountain Crawler systems made specifically to enhance stealth and endurance on any hunt.

THE DETAILS: Among the features is an asymmetrical waist belt that allows a larger, more functional waist belt storage pocket allowing for “cockpit access” to items while still wearing the pack.

The lumbar design enhances the ability to carry heavier loads with less fatigue, using shoulder straps padded with high density foam. The pack is hydration compatible and has lash points for easy external gear attachment. It also uses Tri-Vent three-layer padding to help keep hunters cool.

The pack measures 15-by-12-by-16 inches and weighs 2.5 pounds. It will be available in four camouflage patterns: Realtree Max-1, Realtree Xtra, Mossy Oak Country and Mossy Oak Bottomland.

PRICE: Suggested price is $189.99.

AVAILABILITY: The pack will be available later this summer. Details at spgcompany.com/spg.
