A search under way at Mount Rainier National Park has led park managers to keep the road to Paradise closed Monday.
Park officials announced via Twitter that a search and rescue was being conducted, but offered no other details about the incident.
Because some park staffers were redirected to assist with the search and rescue, the resulting shortage of staff forced the closure of the road from Longmire to Paradise.
Park spokeswoman Patti Wold did not immediately return a message seeking more information.
With the popular Paradise area closed, park rangers were offering guided walks from the Longmire Information Center, according to another post on Twitter. The walks were set to take place at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
