WHAT: Presented by the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, this is an event for the whole family. Activities include ice sculptures, live music, wine tasting, ale tasting, kids’ activities, polar bear splash, beach bonfire and fireworks. The festival is almost 30 years old.

WHEN: Jan. 16-25.

WHERE: Chelan and Manson.

JAN. 16-18 HIGHLIGHTS: There will be two days of ice sculpture competitions, including single-block carving and team ice carving. The wine walk will take place Jan. 16-17. Participants will be able to sample wines as they walk through downtown shops. The bubble bar, serving sparkling wines, will be open Jan. 18. You can take a ride down a slide made of ice or on a horse-drawn carriage.

JAN. 23-25 HIGHLIGHTS: Alefest, Jan. 23-24, will feature beer, cider and spirits from almost 20 craft breweries, cider producers and a local distillery. Taste of Manson features food items prepared by restaurants in this small town uplake from Chelan. On Jan. 24, contestants will carve ice towers that will be lit that evening. On Jan. 25, there will be a snowshoe race/walk on the ridges above the lake.

ADMISSION: Most events are free, but there is a charge for others. A Winterfest button is $5 and admits the wearer to some of the events that require a ticket.
