Sure, November has just begun, but it’s time to start thinking about Thanksgiving. More specifically, it’s time to sign up for a turkey trot to take advantage of early registration discounts. Here are some details on area runs set for Nov. 27:
TACOMA: Metro Parks Tacoma will hold its 20th anniversary Norpoint Turkey Trot at 9 a.m. at the Center at Norpoint.
The entry fee through Nov. 10 is $20 for the 2-mile run or the 5-kilometer timed run, and $10 for the kids’ dash. Registration from Nov. 11-22 is $5 more per race. Day-of-race registration will be $10 more if the race has not filled up. There is a 1,400 runner/walker limit. Registration in advance closes Nov. 22.

OLYMPIA: The Oly Trot starts at 9 a.m. at Heritage Park.
The fee for the 4-mile family fun run is $35, while the Tot Trot (starts at 8:30 a.m.) is free. Registration will be $40 as of Nov. 14. Participants are asked to bring 2 cans of nonperishable food to benefit the Thurston County Food Bank.
There will be only online registration. There is a limit of 1,000 runners.
GIG HARBOR: The 11th annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, with 5k and 10k routes, will start at 8 a.m. in downtown Gig Harbor.
Registration is $15 through Nov. 25 and free for children 12 and younger. After that, adult registration increases to $30. Bring 2 cans of food as part of registration cost.
