Trout Unlimited is holding a $1,000 writing contest, the organization announced Thursday. The winning entry will be featured in an upcoming issue of Trout Magazine and will be read at a Trout Unlimited event in Seattle on Nov. 20.
Essays are required to focus on steelhead and must be no more than 500 words.
“We’re looking for good stories about wild steelhead and why so many of us are willing endure even the worst conditions - frigid water, rain, sleet, snow - for hours, even days at a time in hopes of catching just one of these amazing fish,” Shauna Sherard, TU’s northwest region communications director, said in a prepared statement. “Wild steelhead have captured the souls and imaginations of American anglers for generations. Surely there are stories to tell, and TU wants to help die-hard steelheaders tell them.”
Entries must be submitted by Nov. 11. For more information visit tu.org.
