Apple Physical Therapy’s scheduling hotline for Puyallup School District’s Aug. 16 athlete baseline concussion testing is up and running, said Josh Waltier, director of athletic training.
Baseline concussion tests are required to play football, soccer, basketball and wrestling in the Puyallup School district for all junior high and high school students. “This test is not included in physicians pre-participation sports physicals so parents need to know how to get the testing done for their children,” Waltier said. “Most of the athletes participating have already had these tests performed last year. The district requires them to be completed every two years.”
Waltier estimates that 300-400 incoming athletes, mostly seventh-graders, will need to be tested.
Apple Physical Therapy will offer scheduled testing at its Puyallup South Hill Clinic, 3912 10th St. SE, on 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Aug. 16. This allows parents to get kids done before the start of high school and junior high fall sports. Appointments can be scheduled by call 253-604-0679. Tests costs $10.
