National Lentil Festival
WHAT: The 26th festival features the world’s largest chili pot serving more than 350 gallons of chili, as well as live music; a parade; a cookoff featuring dishes prepared by five contestants; arts and crafts; a kids’ area; food court; and beer and wine gardens.

ENTERTAINMENT: The featured performer will be Kris Allen, who won season 8 of “American Idol” and has had three songs in the Billboard Top 20. He is scheduled to perform at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 23 on the Spring Street stage.
COOKING DEMOS: New this year, the demos will feature three chefs giving live demonstrations of their favorite lentil recipes and providing step-by-step instructions to make those recipes. There also will be an “Ask the Expert” panel discussion featuring five lentil industry professionals.
ACTIVE CELEBRATION: If you want to burn off some energy while enjoying the festival, visitors can take part in the Tase T. Lentil 5K Fun Run, Tour de Lentil bike ride (50-, 100- and 150-kilometer routes), as well as softball and 3-on-3 basketball tournaments.
KIDS’ EVENTS: The kids’ area will include performances by a juggler, yoga class, birds of prey demonstrations, dance performances and a bounce house.
