Former Olympic NP ranger named superintendent at San Francisco park

Former Olympic National Park ranger Kevin Hendricks will take over as superintendent for San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park in September, the National Park Service recently announced.

Hendricks is currently the chief ranger at Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.

“I’ve had a life-long interest in ships, sailing, and the stories of those who went to sea or made their living on the water,” Hendricks said in a prepared statement. “I’m extremely excited about this opportunity to lead such an important park in such a great city, and I look forward to working with the staff, the community, and the park partners to protect and promote our rich maritime history.”

Hendricks went to school in the area, earning a bachelor’s degree in zoology from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1984.
